The father of a 12-year-old boy was "sick" to discover four tablets of what he believed to be ecstasy in the manual of a pre-owned copy of Grand Theft Auto 4.

Richard Thornhill of the U.K. said the plastic-wrapped pills were inside the game's manual and fell out when he opened the package. He made the discovery after he and his brother each purchased a pre-owned copy of Grand Theft Auto 4 from his local Gamestation in Cheltenham.

"I was going to put it away and a felt a lump on the front cover. Inside the instruction booklet was a ball of shrink-wrap, or clingfilm," he told the Metro. "I thought it was just a ball of clingfilm, but then I realized there were tablets inside. I instantly felt sick. They had Mitsubishi signs on them, which I recalled meant they were ecstasy pills. I wasn't 100% sure though, so I checked online and sure enough I was right - it was ecstasy."

When he contacted Gamestation, store personnel initially denied responsibility and told him to just destroy the pills. Eventually Thornhill called police instead, who took the pills but unfortunately destroyed them without testing them. "It was more than likely they were ecstasy pills," a police spokeswoman said.

Gamestation has apologized to Thornhill and issued a statement saying, "We have rigorous procedures for accepting pre-owned titles and checking them before they are put back on sale. We have launched an immediate investigation and we will work closely with police to find out what happened in this instance."

Thornhill has nonetheless called for stricter policies regarding used game sales. "What made me feel the most distraught was the fact we let our 12-year-old son play the game. Worst case scenario is he could have swallowed those pills," he said. "He plays racing games as well, which have Mitsubishi cars in them, so he could have just thought they were something fun - like sweets."

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts might be the worst game I've seen in ages. It's like digging up the corpse of the original games, feeding it to pigs and waiting until they get shat out before putting it on fire and pissing on it. What the fuck where they thinking making this shit? Fucking hell, it's provoking me how shit it is 'cause of my fond memories of the originals.

the 12 year old lad finding pills in his game is shockingly bad form, but the why fuck are they buying him GTAIV? has nobody bitch slapped them for buying a game that's an 18+ for a child?

This is almost as bad as when I bought a pre-owned copy of Rob Zombie's Halloween Part 2 for my 7 year old nephew and there was a bag of smack inside.  Tut.

GTAV Set For E3 Reveal, Says Analyst

Rockstar could be gearing up to unleash the first glimpse of Grand Theft Auto V at next month's E3 show.

That's according to EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich, who confidently predicts that the next GTA will show up in non-playable form in preparation for a 2011 release.

"I think we're going to hear about another Grand Theft Auto. I think there won't be any playable stuff. I think they'll give you some type of teaser, because we do think that a year from then in 2011 we're going to see another Grand Theft Auto," he told Game Informer.

GTA IV appeared on PS3, 360 and PC, although 360 held time exclusivity to the download expansions (The Lost And Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony). Divnich went on to explain why he doubts there'll be any exclusivity next time around: "I don't foresee Microsoft or Sony attempting to obtain any type of exclusivity with the next Grand Theft Auto.

"Microsoft paid a lot of money for exclusivity on the downloadable content for GTA IV, which unfortunately did little to move consoles for Microsoft. Back in 2004, the Grand Theft Auto was a huge brand, but only relative to the other brands that existed at the time.

"While the GTA brand is certainly bigger now than it was five years ago, others have emerged to reach similar levels of success, such as Call of Duty or Guitar Hero. In other words, if Sony gets an exclusive deal on GTA V, it would do little to disrupt Microsoft's ability to move hardware, and vice versa."

This isn't the first time analysts have pointed to an imminent revealing for GTA 5, with Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey saying back in March that Rockstar is building up to a pre-E3 announcement.

The E3 rumour mill begins.  Of course, it won't be GTA 5 but GTA: Vice Andreas or something like that....
